Acceptance Speech of 1st Sep

Good morning Principal, teachers, and fellow schoolmates. I am Li Kwan Chiu from 6A, the House Captain of Community last year. Getting the Award of Future Leaders is an absolute recognition to me and it is my pleasure to share my amazing feelings with all of you.

Time flies. Back to the September of last year, I was wondering how to hold the events successfully for my 200 house members in the following year. In order to maximize the efficiency, I realized teamwork and communication with my committee are the keys. I tried my very best to spread the ideas of unity and harmony to my core members. After all those sincere conversations with each of them, we not only wanted to be named on this Shield (point at it), but also to enjoy the process of holding activities for our schoolmates together. Even though the award finally went to Courtesy, my core members and I had definitely learnt a lot in the process of organizing various activities.

To be honest, I won’t be able to stand here without my committee, who support me all the way. The atmosphere of the Music Contest before X’Mas wouldn’t be that wonderful without the help of Kristy, Ranee, Koey and Lok Lam. Those ball games wouldn’t be that smooth without Ginger, Sunny, Mandy and Yuen Ching. And the Sports Day would not be that great without our Vice Captain, Bessy and all the helpers from other forms. Therefore, I just want to express that this honor should be shared with all of you who belong to Community! Besides, a good leader doesn’t mean a person who could do the most, but a person who could guide his teammates to accomplish different missions by finding out the talents and potentials in them. As the saying goes, “Many hands make light work”. Putting our heads together can surely make us more powerful.

I would also like to take this opportunity to express my heartfelt thanks to Miss Lee, Miss Leung, Miss Carmen Yiu and Mr. Ken Yiu. I have been trained and nurtured well by all these teachers to who I am today in the past three years. It is undeniable that you have all helped me a lot in improving my personality and built up my confidence. When I had troubles on some complicated issues, all of you are always there for me.

Last but not least, no matter we are being the house captains, prefects, or just a normal student; it is unavoidable that we have to face various pressure from study, our social circle and sometimes even family. Be confident and do well on time management, one day we will see those challenges as the fertilizer of our growth in life! As long as we are willing to change and pay effort, nothing is impossible. Finally, for you to create your wonderful memories in our school and leave no regrets when you look back your secondary school years, I hope you will all keep supporting your own House in different events like Sports Days, music contest and the numerous ball games that we have. I believe the more you pay, the more you gain! I wish you all every success and a fruitful academic year ahead.

Thank you.
