My Favourite subjects

My favourite subjects are Visual Art and Business Studies.

I like Visual Art because the teacher is very kind. Also, when we were drawing a picture during the lesson, we could listen to music. I enjoyed the time to draw. I think this subject gives room for my creativity and freedom.

Besides, I like Business Studies because I am interested in learning via group activities. Also, we had chances to play some games and the teachers are very funny. I think the lessons were conducted in a very interesting way and thus I like that very much.

The differences between studying in Hong Kong and Australia

First, I reckon one of the significant merits of studying in Australia is we students can enjoy a lot of freedom. Even though students there can listen to music while they are doing homework, they enjoy the lessons and they are not lazy. It is crucial and beneficial to students studying in Hong Kong. Since the teaching schedule here is very tight, students always face a lot of stress and they do not quite enjoy the lessons. It sends a stark contrast to the student life in Australia.

Moreover, studying in Australia is ‘lighter’. Students in Australia use laptops for almost all classes. They do not need to bring many books to school, but a laptop. However, students in Hong Kong often need to bring a lot of textbooks every day. In my opinion, it is quite annoying as our schoolbags are always heavy.

Besides, another major difference between studying in Hong Kong and Australia is the amount of assignment and the time given for them to finish the assignment. In Hong Kong, we have many assignments every day and we only have a couple of days to complete them. Yet in Australia, they have fewer homework and they are given more time to complete the assignment. In short, students in Hong Kong are much busier than students in Australia.

Apart from that, Physical Education lesson in Australia is different from the one in Hong Kong. Students in Australia have two P.E. lesson a week and they are required to listen to a lecture about their physical health and sit for an assessment. Instead, students in Hong Kong do not need to take the assessment but we simply stay outdoors and do exercises in P.E. lessons.

The final note is I believe studying in Australia is more enjoyable than that in Hong Kong since students can choose from a wide range of subjects, such as French and Chinese Language, which are quite different from the limited choices of subjects available in Hong Kong.

What I gain from the programme

This programme allows me to make many new friends. I met a Japanese and Chinese teacher as we stayed in the same host family. Since we lived under the same roof, we became good friends. Also, my classmates become my friends too.

Moreover, this programme helps me to be an independent girl. Since my family and friends were not around at that time, I had to deal with a lot of things by myself. Also I found that I have great improvement in English and my communication skills since I managed to use English all the time to talk with other people. Therefore, I have developed my independence and improved my communication skills throughout this programme.

The most unforgettable memory in the immersion program

Frankly speaking, my most unforgettable memory is whale watching. Seeing the whales on spot is a truly amazing experience. Whales are huge and that is why it is the biggest animal in the world. When I saw one for the first time, I felt really excited. The only word I could utter is ‘amazing’. I believe this memory will stay in my heart forever.
